ANTHROPOLOGY IN THE NEWS

Rationale: Indians of North America will focus on the primary culture areas of the north American landscape starting with the Arctic regions and working to the American Southwest. Although the primary focus will be the state of those cultures at a pre-contact time, that of course is really an impossibility. Therefore, we will try to contextualize cultural traits using culture area theory and then bring the discussion into the present through the use of a contemporary ethnography.
